Canadian Dollar and Two Dollar Coins

Candian Dollar and Two Dollar Coins, originally uploaded by jeffmcneill.

Dollar and Two Dollar coins. Who would have thought? So very, very handy. Not only are vending machines so much easier to deal with (lets’ see, $2.75 = nine coins or three with one for change), but it makes you reconsider the value of a dollar (Candadian dollars being slightly more valuable than American dollars, so a dollar is a dollar).

Yes, a dollar is a coin, that’s how it works. Why can’t the US wake up to this? Ok, the Canadians still have pennies, so they haven’t figured out what a waste that is, but many places have tax included in the menu and deal in quarter and half-dollar increment pricing.
