Twitter doubling every 17 days
Andy Baio over at waxy.org put up some great numbers on March 15th regarding Twitter’s growth (in terms of tweets). I continued his database tracking Twitter’s numbers through Ev’s twitter history, adding the data through today, April 19th. The raw data is here (but not as pretty as Andy’s). Some items of interest:
- Big takeoff occurred around March 9th, at about the 6 million tweet mark
- There are now almost 34 million tweets
- Growth in the past 41 days has been around 4.4% per day
- Currently there is something like 1.5 million tweets per day
- If this growth rate continues, in the next 90 days the number of tweets will multiply by a factor of 8
