WinDoze Programs and Utilities
Likely not new to many, but these I just ran across or recently revisited and are exceptionally useful.
Certainly they are free, some are even opensource.
- MemPad a simple, configurable, text editor with index tree, multiple files, fast (may be as useful as Notepad2)
- Qlock a world clock with lots of customizable stuff
- Amazon S3 Tools
- Microsoft SyncToy for synchronizing between Windows machines
- VNC (now renamed RealVNC), tha great remote screen tool, still a free version available, but better to go with TightVNC the open source project
- FileZilla FTP (now with v.3 in beta7 if you are looking for that sort of thing) as well as FileZilla Portable (for the thumbdrive)
- Putty the Telnet/SSH (and SFTP, etc.) command-line clients
- Cygwin utilities
