Weekly Notes 01 Dec 24

Updated 11-Dec-2024

This is the start of weekly notes. Not sure how long this project will last, but want to give it a try, as per Thej.

Work

Little progress on the work front. Will have to projectize some tasks and then get it done.

Health

Generally getting over the cold that I had last week, but still coughing and more sleeping than average. The boys are also generally healthy. They keep growing, inclidng their hair and nails which I will cut today.

Transportation

Still in the BYD Dolphin learning curve. Much to learn but have a decent handle on how it works. The lights are still a little bit of a mystery, though it does have a warning when the light outside is getting dimmer (even with auto lights are turned off), so that helps.

Ecommerce

Lazada is getting worse and worse, both from a product offering and price perspective and, more importantly, a usability perspective. Some days I get incessant solve this captcha slider interogations, and I haven't been able to order from my browser for weeks now (can only do so from the app). Shopee has none of these problems, and I find myself increasingly shopping from there. Sadly, I get few orders on that platform for Memorable Press and so need to retrench my offerings there. In any case, I still use both platforms, for obvious reasons (price and product comparisons).

Weather and Pollution

The weather is sliding into the cooler season with an equivalent ratcheting up of the formidable PM 2.5 pollution. We get 50-100 on a daily basis and that will increase at some point. Now is the best time to go for hikes and such, before the necessary use of masks and the lowered visibility make it less appealing.

The Future

General global idiocy and especially the USA-flavored idiocy when electing officials is still something to mourn. There really is no easy approach when money, power, and corruption are united. Sigh.

Global heating is continuing apace. No reasonable assumptions can be made regarding much mitigation in the near term, with blotches of clarity in terms of transportation (EVs) and renewable energy.
