Short note this week.
Tech
- Updated the Kodi article to Nova, as that is what I use at home on Android TV, and on Android mobile devices.
- Upgraded two servers, one desktop, and one laptop to Debian 13 (Trixie). It will be frozen later this month and a release tentatively for early August. Some issues with a printer, but that is all so far (also, the fonts got changed in my XFCE terminal). Still have one device on Debian 12 (Bookworm) so that I can print at home. Need to do more regression testing. Filed and upgrade bug report with Debian.
- Upgraded to Fastfetch, though Neofetch still works fine.
- Need to
modernize-sourcesusingaptbut I'll do that after full cutover to live Trixie. Sept. 1st in calendar. - Disabled scrobbling of audio after a month. It was an interesting exercise but I found I did not gain much insight into my own behaviour and very little overlap with others for useful recommendations. Very pleased with random play of owned media, new stuff from Bandcamp, and occasional new stuff from YouTube Music. The smart speaker voice recommendations are mostly horrible, with only occasional insights.
- Testing GCore shows just how much scrapping is done by bots these days. Horrifying! Need to get Anubis up and running before any cutover off of Cloudflare.
