Disable One UI 7 Battery Indicator

Updated 06-Aug-2025

The One UI 7 battery indicator -- One UI 7 is now available in Asia -- which is part of the Android 15 release for various Samsung devices, in a word, sucks. In dark mode it is the bright pill-shaped blob with dark numbers providing the percentage left. In addition, there are a variety of animations and it is a part of the always on functionality. This is not the only flaw in One UI 7 / Android 15 for Samsung, just the most eggregious. Simply stated, it is hated by many.

On the web, there are various solutions to fixing this, though nothing that works for my Samsung Galaxy A24. Therefore here are instructions that worked for me.

Disable Always On Display (AOD) functionality

  • > Settings > Lock screen and AOD > Always On Display = off

Disable Animations

  • > Settings > Accessibility > Vision enhancements > Reduce animations = on

Turn off the battery indicator completely

This requires several components:

Note that once you install Fine Lock it has links to open up the Fine Lock home page, that then links to Good Lock and QuickStar on APKMirror. Install those two as well.

  • It is in QuickStar -- that you access through Fine Lock that one finds the setting to disable the battery indicator (in Visibility of Indicator Icons), and also to extend the time in the upper-left-hand corner to include the weekday, month, and day (in Clock Settings). Quite handy.

Install a decent battery indicator

  • As there isn't much, I've gone with a widget on the home screen instead.

Final customizations

I use Nova Launcher (custom launcher) and Whicons (custom icons), and along with widgets for the Clock, Shadow Weather, and now Battery Widget this is the look I get. Yes it is a bit fidgety to set up, but I get the aesthetic and utility I want. I have 17 single-click icons, and four folders (with 33 more icons). I also can swipe down to get the alphabetical list of apps. I don't use any other set of widgets, search pages, or whatever.

Note the 77% battery indicator in the upper right.
