Caption: Mid-may look (pre-chop)
Cooking
- Standards, nice and healthy.
Work
- Lots to do and not much getting done.
Tech
- Discourse not Discord. The latest theme I've been seeing is quite Discord-like in terms of the left-hand menu. Discourse is not likely worse than Discord, though it won't likely have audio chat anytime soon.
- Getting Home Assistant to work with LLM, TTS, and STT, locally. Sigh.
Tech Tasks
- Get Obsidian spaced repetition working and add to boys' tablets for math and English.
Health
- Injured my old injured knee playing footie with the boys. I'm out of kicking and running, much less walking (I'm hobbling), for a while, unfortunately. Painful, and add to that a groin strain. Wow.
Travel
- Only around town. Boys and I cleaned the car (inside), which should be done monthly, otherwise stuff gets ground into the carpets, especially.
Reading
- The Apothecary Diaries v1, quite entertaining.
- Note that KOReader on Android crashes if you change the font to a certain size. Sigh. But I did get through 20 minutes somewhere with no ebook reader (I mean a dedicated device).
- Ernest Hemingway On Writing
Music
- Added Symfonium as a primary music player, replacing the venerable DoubleTwist. It works great on Android Auto (and has a continue setting, so it just starts up when in the car). Still need to use the venerable Alpha+ player if I want the next button on the steering wheel to change a channel within SomaFM favorites.
- I don't really have a complete plan for music (and video) playing within the house / out-and-about, but am making steps to optimize the annoying parts as it goes.
Games
- Finished Mars:Mars and Tower Madness 2, again.
- Boys are mostly on Roblox, though there are several experiences in there they enjoy, predominately Blue Lock.
Video
- Reverted from Kodi back to VLC and my standard directory of content. Yes, I don't see eye-candy posters to browse, and can't search by metadata or actions (e.g., unfinished series) but VLC does keep track of what was watched, once browsing inside directories. I like the idea of Kodi, but it can't play very well on a Google Chromecast / Android TV device, and so needs at least a NUC of some kind (which I have for that purpose).
