What does it take to create a new normal? For the body, to make regular exercise the default and not exercising the abnormal condition? By exercise I mean something well, meaningful.
A New Normal
To create a new normal, more than incremental change is needed. Instead, a shift of subterranean tectonic plates is needed. Something that changes the perspective irrevocably. A point needs to be passed that will force the adaptation upon the organism. Speaking for myself, something around 2 hours/day, 6 days/week at minimum tends to be this point of critical activity.
How to Implement Change
Criticality and time are the most important elements of lasting change. If it takes 66 repetitions to create a habit, that probably means doing something 66 times or for 66 days, or once per week for 15 months. Criticality means that point at which adaptation needs to take place, a fundamental shift in operation is forced upon the organism or the organization. Let the adaptations begin.
Up is Down
The best, perhaps silliest illustration is in Pirates of the Caribbean #3 (I think) where Up needs to become Down, and sunset sunrise.
