Work
- Figure out how to learn Japanese (and Thai), put together basic outline of what is needed, what is different
- Produce IPA comparisons between English and Thai, English and Japanese, Japanese and Thai
Tech
- Need to get serious about getting RSS feeds organized and in an interface that I will use. Thej is inspiring in his focus on blogging, as I learn a lot from what I do read (which I generally see in Mastodon or Bluesky).
- Uninstalled Facebook and Messenger apps, as I can use their websites as needed. While I do have to use Messenger (web-based on desktop and mobile), these other suggestions on grey-rocking Meta are pretty good.
- Abandon apps when possible, as the web should be better (and still is in many ways). The 30% tax on app payments is egregious and so anyone with a paying app / subscription / donation should definitely be making kickass websites and not crap apps.
- Updated post on Screenshot with XFCE, as I had to rebuild my desktop (now complete).
- Dino works good as an Linux XMPP client though it is lagging in some functionality and getting attachments takes longer than it should. I'm helping fund it via Liberapay.
- Revamping my page on the Kindle (woefully out-of-date), as choices for ebook readers (sizes, feature sets) are different nowadays.
- Android app for Mastodon Megaladon hasn't been updated in over a year, though Moshidon is a fork of it and updated regularly, so I've switched over to that. I'd go with a simple web client, but the Mastodon web client (for mobile) is not that. Elk.zone (Github), however, is a nice open-source web client, meant to be installed on Mastodon servers, but also having an active instance on https://elk.zone/. For the desktop, the Mastodon client works better, with advanced column configuration.
Health
- Updated post on Cocoa / Cacao (Hot Chocolate) after getting a new batch locally produced in Thailand. Lovely (and replaces my coffee / mocha needs, with an eighth the caffeine).
- My left hand has still not healed and I experience pain. Sigh.
Travel
- Up in the air about travel, so many places, but most of them are not an "any time you like" kind of destination. Climate and celebrations make things complicated. Part of me wants to just go but another part wants more planning. This is for the boys who likely won't remember much. Last year in Krabi was great except for the jellyfish stings, which hurt a lot.
- There are direct flights CNX-HAN (Hanoi) and CNX-KIX (Osaka). For Cambodia, a drive across country is more economical.
Reading
- Dungeon Crawler Carl lots of laughs in this. Also started the second and third volume in this series.
- Sarum (just realized it is an 899 page book, currently 15% of the way through).
Music
- Baby no money - Edemame
Video
- Need to get the boys into a football (soccer) anime, maybe one of these...
