Caption: Which one of these is white? Hint, the one on the left is cream, the one on the right is not silver. The one in the middle is light gray. Note, these BYD Dolphins are the best selling BEVs in Thailand in 2024, perhaps also 2025.
Work
- Trying to get the clusterf*ck of Amazon accounts worked out. Once again they suspended the main account because needed a new credit card, but that put everything into suspension and needing to get direct support now. Seems to be settled now.
- Need to move progress on distribution.
- Tidying up the domain names. I think I should sunset the .io domains and switch to .im instead (British Indian Ocean Territory is no more, while the Isle of Man is soundly persisting, and are $10.48 USD/year on the Namecheap registrar). I grabbed two of them.
- Svelte for the new web/app?
Tech
- Looking at RSS feed reader. Several listed here.
- Miniflux looks especially promising.
- The twelve factor app - principles of app design, quick read
- Need to work out either Kobo or Nook book download and De-DRM, so I can buy a new book (Michael Lewis' Who is Government?). Look at Kindle page for actual instructions. Bought the ebook from Kobo as Google Play kept giving me trouble with my credit cards (on-and-off-again nonsense). See Ebooks for ebook store options and their specific DRM.
- Finally finished up configuring ACSM DRM decryption, added info to Ebooks and where to buy them and Calibre articles. It is not difficult, just an additional plugin in Calibre.
- Explained in detail to Bookshop.org why its choice of DRM was quite poor. Profit per month, not per sale, is most important. Therefore a DRM solution that increases sales is more important than one which is the cheapest per ebook.
- Getting prepped for using the Spaced Repetition plugin for Obsidian. Anki Android app is a privacy nightmare, and keeping this functionality inside of Obsidian (which I use daily and has mobile and Linux apps) makes great sense.
- GIMP 3.0 is released, long time in the making
- Want a link shortener self-hosted, Shlink.io looks good, and there is a WordPress plugin Smol links for managing it.
- Open Source projects are getting hit hard by AI scraping.-- Anubis is one answer.
- Calibre has released v. 8.0.1
- Found an easy-to-use open source video / audio cutting tool Lossless Cut
- Better privacy and open source client for Discord: Legcord
- Next, how to easily set up a compatible server, and then simply do Discord, without Discord? Perhaps Spacebar?
Health
- 59 years old, and feeling it.
- Got a new work chair, from Ikea (their customer service is crap, but the chair itself is a solid design choice, it's the Alefjaell).
Travel
- The hot and bad air weather is coming soon (the hot is almost here, the bad air already). Still, need to travel, though.
Reading
- I've got many new books in my ebook reader!
- Finished Dungeon Crawler Carl book 5, now onto book 6.
Music
- Enjoying the Synphaera channel on SomaFM
Video
- New music video from Hanumankind
