This recipe is adapted from Robert Rodriguez's 10 Minute Cooking School

Note that in the video above he only uses half of the recipe, and the use of lard means that the butter does not need to be more. Therefore:

  • 250g flour
  • 40g butter
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 150g (more or less) of warm water

  • Mix dry ingredients
  • Knead the butter into the flour (by hand or otherwise)
  • Use hand mixer with hooks to mix in the water for a firm dough
  • Make into small balls for individual tortillas
  • Leave dough to rise for 20-30 minutes, covering with damp towel
  • Roll out tortillas flat, and cook on dry frying pan or tortilla cooking surface
  • 1-2 minutes each side, pressing to increase bubbles
