Audacity is an audio editor useful for a variety of things, though in no way a DAW (nor will it be). It is great for simple and fast functions, such as exporting in different formats, noise reduction, high- and low-pass filtering, and normalization, etc.
Audacity tools
- Noise reduction (if needed)
- High pass filter
- Low pass filter
- Normalize

Note, the wiki is shut down (though the manual is in fact running on a Wikimedia instance, which is, pretty much, a wiki). Here are a few other resources:
- Audacity support
- Noise reduction, noise gate, and notch filter
- Setting up microphone and recording
- Audacity on Github
- Audacity reference manual
- Audacity plugins
- Audiobook Mastering Macro
- More ACX compliance with a variety of plugins

Some of my workflow
- Add all tracks for the album, and 2 second silence tracks
- Tracks > zero, Tracks > end to end
- Select only audio tracks
- High pass filter, low pass filter, normalize
- Remove any artifacts
- Duplicate project for each track, rename to track name
- Open each file and remove all non-specific track items
- Export to .wave and .mp3
