Notion – Software

Updated 30-Jan-2022

Notion is a flexible cross-platform SAAS application that combines wikis, tasks, kanban boards, and tables (databases). The only problem with it is security and self-hosting (not available), and some things are not easy to do (recurring tasks). It has a pretty good look and feel, and does decent collaboration. For small to medium-sized teams it is a time-saver.

Alternatives include:

  • Gitlab (collaborative wiki and documents, but not as rich an interface)
  • Joplin is for individuals with note-taking/task/to do lists, but don't have collaboration options. Joplin is an advance over directories of markdown files, and can also be used with Syncthing in the same way.
